Record Store Day Product Submissions

Music Colleagues,

The music industry is constantly changing and consumers are continually introduced to new products which can consist of exclusive digital versions, deluxe LP kits or exclusive bundles to celebrate events such as the Holidays and Record Store Day.  In order for both Nielsen Entertainment and BuzzAngle Music to make sure everything is accounted for accurately, they rely on information from retail, labels, industry associations, distributors and management partners.  They are asking that any exclusive products for any special period of time to be provided 2-4 weeks in advance with the following details:

  • Title
  • Artist
  • UPC(s)
  • Format (CD, LP, Deluxe, Bundle, Video)
  • Track listing
  • Total manufactured
  • List of retailers receiving product
  • Quantity received by each retailer
  • Release Date
  • Purpose of product (i.e. Record Store Day, Holiday, Black Friday, Retailer Exclusive)
  • Exclusive to that retailer or independents (Y/N)

BuzzAngle Music:

Record Store Day will be here before you know it and once again BuzzAngle Music is proud to be a sponsor of this great event. BuzzAngle Music powers the official Record Store Day charts that get published and serviced to the media.  We want to make sure that all of your music products are properly credited and registered in BuzzAngle Music.

Record Store Day provides us with a direct feed for all the music products that are going to be available for sale for the event.  If you have not submitted your Record Store Day music product information to Record Store Day as of yet, please make sure to do so as well as provide us with the information directly via [email protected] as soon as possible.

We are very much looking forward to another great successful event for everyone involved.  Please feel free to reach out to us directly at [email protected] with any questions at all.

Nielsen Entertainment:

If you only have one product to register that falls within the category of seasonal promotion, you can also visit our online title registration tool (http://titlereg.soundscan.com/soundscantitlereg/) and notify [email protected] and [email protected] that it’s an exclusive product with the aforementioned details.

To specifically address Record Store 2016, it is expected that there will be a larger number of merge requests for the special products rolling out for these sales days.  Time will be needed to review and implement the various requests.  Therefore, the Reference Data Group is asking that merger requests for Records Store Day products are submitted to [email protected] no later than EOB Friday March 25, 2016.

As Record Store Day 2016 draws closer, an updated reminder will be sent once again.

With your help we can assure that the sales for your records and products will be captured and represented accurately across all of our tools during the various special release periods.
